Sweet!

I made some yummy peanut butter rice crispy treats yesterday! Krystle found the recipe online, surprisingly easy except for the clean up portion (such as mess lol). We had neat cookie cutters and I made myself a dinosaur!

Some bonding time can be incredibly sweet, especially with your reese's pieces. :]

Teenage Dream?

It's one of those slow but crazy days at work. Every one is off to the High Point Market in North Carolina and it's just Cherie and I holding down the fort. Slightly overwhelmed at the moment, thought I'd write to relieve some stress before my world gets turned upside down.

Fyi, they play Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" almost every hour on 106.7. I'm a fan of Katy Perry but still, listening to this song all day can make you want to drive an ice pick into someone's face. . . not so good when you're a little high strung over piles of POs.

Wish me luck world, I'm going to need it!

Holy Crux

It's one of those nights. . . too tired to sleep.

Do you ever have that feeling that you're too exhausted to do anything but so restless you feel that you should do something? I wish my life were more exciting and not plagued by daily routine. What happened to late night rides to 7-11 to get slushies? What happened to spontaneous road trips to Gainesville? Oh yeah, age, that's what happened.

Is is true that as you get older, you get less creative? Or do you just stop trying as hard?

The XX

On a musical adventure today; revisiting some old favorites and becoming acquainted with some new sounds.

Listened to Magnetic Fields today on the way to dim sum, "69 Love Songs" is one of my most favorite albums.

Finally got a chance to listen to The XX (suggested by Ricky). The music is great but I especially love the music video for the song "Islands" take a gander here.

As instrumentals go, "Last Carnival" is wonderful. Composed by Norihiro Tsuru, the music just speaks to you, eerily haunting at some points.

And I've heard this song almost EVERYWHERE for, what seems like, forever. It was even on Gossip Girl I think. I feel like everyone knows this song, except for me until today! I've had it stuck in my head most of the day, good job MGMT for "Kids".

Side note: I still don't know how to punctuate a sentence that ends with quotations, before or after the quote? I'm going to risk it today, just for the hell of it, after the quote it is.

There's still this one song that I can't remember exactly. It's used in a lot of movie soundtracks, very dramatic (sounding -- if that make sense). We even had it in one of our APAC videos back in 2007, but the video was muted by YouTube so I can't figure out which song it is. It's one of those songs that just makes you tear up when you hear it, or at least I always get misty when it's played. I suppose the journey continues as I try to figure out which song is stuck in my head -- with no melody, no tune, no lyrics, and basically no sound. Maybe I'll stumble upon some more great finds in music tonight, here's hoping.

NY, NY

Went to New York this past weekend for National Conference. I don't know if I'll ever be "too old" to enjoy a weekend with the sisters. Had lots of fun, ate lots of food, and met some new and old friends. I'm really glad I went!!!!

Planning my next trip back to New York to do something different and I think Martin might actually tag along! :D

I'm so excited to travel, that I think I want to start a giant game of travel tag. Starting with my friend Cynthia. She came down to Florida last semester, and I just went up to NY, so it's her turn to come back down to Florida. This might catch on, just you wait and see; remember, I make dreams come true, which loosely translates to "I make things happen" lol.

Quest Crew!

Jess and I had an awesome GG Adventure this Saturday! First we had a great lunch at Bangkok Square. Mangoes are in season so I got some mango sticky rice, which I'm totally excited about lol. And then, on a sort-of whim, I convinced Jess to go with me to Monsters of Hip-Hop/Contemporary Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando. Needless to say I got lost, the freaking airport is like a maze and it took me 3 1/2 tries to figure out that I just had to park at the airport because the Hyatt is inside the airport. I feel like an idiot but that's alright because I got to see Quest Crew! They performed two sets; a compilation of some of their work from America's Best Dance Crew and some new bboy stuff. It was pretty cool to see live, not gonna lie. We waited afterwards to get some photos (I'm a little dense and didn't think to bring a camera so the pics were suuuuper blurry cause I had to take it with my camera phone haha). Anyhow, it was still great to see them and great to hang out with my GG. Afterwards we went to a friend's house party to celebrate their fraternity getting chapter status (congrats Phi Chapter of the Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc.). All in all, an awesome weekend.

This whole week we're filming our video for APAC Assembly. My little asked if I'd like to lend my voice for some parts and it was pretty cool to use real equipment to record. It's gonna be a great show, I can feel it lol. The speaker/guest performer is still undecided but we're hoping it's someone who can deliver. We've had a few memorable guests at our APAC events: Beau Sia, Passion, Asia. Here's hoping this year we can top that! Maybe with a member from the Quest Crew?!?!? I don't know, it's always good to dream big. :)

On a side note, somehow amongst all the excitement, I've been dubbed the woman that can make dreams come true. Let's hope it sticks (and most of all, let's hope it's true).

So Fluffy!

Saw Despicable Me last night and it was so much fun! I think almost everyone fell in love with Margo, Edith, and Agnes; and I have a new found love of unicorns lol.

The movie was pretty awesome but the theater was jam-packed with viewers young and old. It's always awkward when you're sitting near the "crying baby" or the "talks-to-much little kid." The little girl in front of us just started crying nonstop and it was unbearable. The worst part was when the other movie goers started booing their parents and demanded that they leave the theater. We felt so bad for them, and incredibly embarrassed, but there is a fine line that can be crossed when it comes to bringing small children to movies. Then again, this movie was made for small children but how small is too small? Or young rather. Toddlers and infants can't understand a movie so why bring them, but then you have another child that wants to go to the movies with mom and dad and they can't find a sitter, bam! you're at the movies with your 5-year-old son/daughter and your 13-month-old screaming child because you want to be that mom and/or dad that can do it all. I wish we can cut all parents a little slack when we're watching family films, after all it is for the family. But I also wish parents can be more considerate of their children as well, movies are loud and a nuisance to babies, so take turns taking your kids to the movies. It's all about self-sacrifice, raising children, or so I've been told. Now for those crazy parents that are into scary-slasher-blood-n-gore-creeper movies that are just dying for a good scare, keep your children at home. Not only will everyone hate you for bringing your kids to an R-rated movie, most people will probably think you're clinically insane and are probably inadvertently subjecting your kids to some type of childhood trauma which will lead to anti-socialism and anxiety; I'm just saying.

All in all, a pretty good weekend, glad we ended it with a good movie. :)

To Infinity, and Beyond!

I watched Toy Story 3 on Saturday and it was great! :D
Well it's pretty much the same formula that goes into the first and second installments of this trilogy but I enjoyed it anyway. I was surprised that the plot was a bit darker for the third film; parts of the movie left me with a feeling of "oh my gosh, what is that?" and "why? oh my gosh why?" but in the most humorous way possible. This movie, I think, was made for those of us who grew up with the first two films. Most of us are "Andy's" that went off to college and had to grow up; it was nice that this movie touched base on everything we love about Toy Story. Have to admit that I teared up at the last bit of the movie; it made me want to go back to my "home" home and find all my old toys in the hopes of rekindling our lost friendships lol. Well, maybe not in such a literal sense, but hey it's good to reminisce.

Nothing much to look forward to this weekend. I want to watch Knight and Day but that might just be my own little venture. We gave up on Jonah Hex, seeing as how last time we decided to give a low rated movie a chance (Killers via rottentomatoes.com) we were very disappointed. You can't get a single digit rate and impress too many people, should have read and learned and walked away.

I guess now I'll leave you with one of my favorite tracks from the movie, please visit YouTube here to have a listen.

Nom Nom Nom

Today would be a great day for some frozen yogurt at iKiwi. Come to think of it, everyday of this summer would be a great day for frozen yogurt. :D

Summer Splash

It was our 3rd Annual Summer Splash event today and I have to say it went quite well, very leisure. Got a chance to hang out with the girls and get some tanning done lol. It was supposed to be the hottest day of the week today, somewhere over 100 degrees. After a while hot just begets hot, so I can't really feel the difference between 80 and a million degrees (aside from the possibility that I've been set on fire).

Another great memory with my reese's pieces (missing Kim, Laurie, and Charity) but hopefully we'll reunite again soon.

Not much else going on in the next few weeks; contemplating on whether or not I should attend our August conference, maybe just to hang out with other alumns and do some sorority stuff. I am highly anticipating the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter which is June 18th I believe. After I finished the 4-day, 4-park deal from Disney, I was thirsting for more theme park adventure, so hopefully I get to go to the new Harry Potter-land soon.

Might catch A-Team or Karate Kid this week but I'm still not sure if either venture will turn out well. Jonah Hex is releasing this Friday and that might render some unconscionable fun. Will write soon with updates on all the latest fun having excitement!

Going Up

Listened to the Infant Sorrow CD today. I have to say that this is the best make-believe band of all time, well next to Otis Day and the Knights. This song inspires me to do something, but what?

These past few days I've been feeling a little lost; there seems to be this slight void in my life and I can't figure out what's missing. Everyone hopes that their lives or their hopes and dreams amount to something more; praying that each result is more than just the sum of its parts. Everything I've done in high school, college, this past year; what is it all for?

I stumbled upon Po Bronson's book "What Should I Do With My Life?" and had another notion of inspiration. Apparently it's not a strange case when someone feels lost in their work or in their lives. Having a means to an end is not enough at times and it's times like these when courage is desperately needed. I'm scared that all the choices I've made were wrong, that every step I took to get to where I want to be, actually lead to the wrong destination, or worse, leads to nowhere. I want to do more with my life. I've realized now that I haven't found my passion, that one goal that sets everything else in motion. Am I destined to be hopeless? Is this all there is? Well, I've decided to truly discover my "dream" the one thing that I want to live for.

I'm going to look into new career options or some new job opportunities. I'm only 23 and I already feel stuck in a rut. Who was it that said "find what you love doing and figure out a way to get paid for doing it?" or something along those lines. Well, I have a lot of research to do but I'm glad I have a new song to add to the soundtrack of my life.

Secrets

The power of music can be a crazy thing. OneRepublic's Secrets has been stuck in my head for the longest time, I found myself singing along and I didn't even know the words.

I first heard it in the trailer for ABC Family's new show Pretty Little Liars. This show gives off a Gossip Girl-esque vibe and I wasn't really interested about the concept, but this song makes me want to watch this new series anyway, which is premiering tomorrow! I also just heard the song used for the Apple iPhone 4 Design video. I'm such a sap for OneRepublic that I kind of teared up in the FaceTime segment. I am actually contemplating purchasing the new iPhone (not that it needed some soothing music to coax me into submission, the new iPhone has great new capabilities and looks more durable than the last three, which is good for clumsy folk like myself).

I don't know what it is or if there is even a meaning behind it but no matter what the scenario, if there is a good song attached to whatever you're selling, I will most likely buy it. Speaking of which, can't wait to get the Infant Sorrow CD today! :D
